How to use review.Arnetminer.org

Thank you for visiting the review.Arnetminer.org. Below are a few tips that will make it easier for you to use the site.

Introduction

review.Arnetminer.org is a tool designed for conference organizers, based on the approach proposed in the paper “Expertise Matching via Constraint-based Optimization”. The input of the system is a list of papers (with titles, abstracts, authors) and a list of conference program committee(PC) members. With the academic information stored in ArnetMiner, the system automatically finds the match between papers and reviewers. The system also provide conflict-of-interest(COI) avoidance according to coauthorship and co-organization relationship.

Example

Here is a toy example,  view as a guest.

In the next section, we will introduce how to create a conference like this.

How to (Step by Step)

1. Create a Conference

To create a conference, just click the link "Create New Conference". You will enter the "Create Conference wizard".

1.1 Paper Info

In the Paper Info section:

The first line should be "column title line". Column title can be "title", "author"/"authors", "abstract".

FORMAT: Columns are separated by TAB("\t").  Authors for a paper should be separated by ";"

You may just copy the paper information from an excel file.

An Example (Copy from excel)

Copy to Paper Info section:

1.2 Reviewer Info

Similar to paper Info section, user should input the reviewer information here. The first line should be "Column title". Basically, just a name would be sufficient for our system. Also, you could provide "email" and "affiliation" for better COI-avoidance.

In this toy example, let's use three reviewers : Jie Tang, Hang Li, Lei Zhang and Jon M. Kleinberg.

1.3 Detail Setting

Now, user need to specify some constraints in this conference. As in the figure, they are

  • # min papers per reviewer
  • # max papers per reviewer
  • # reviewers per paper
  • beta, mu, lambda.  (These are three weighting parameter used in your approach). Larger "beta" leads to a more load-balance assignment, and larger "mu" leads to a more authoritative-balance matching.

In this toy example, we set a reviewer should review at least 1 paper, but no more than 4 (hmm....there are totally 4). A paper should be assigned to exact 2 reviewers.

Click the "Assign" Button, the system starts to work :)    But.....It may take several minutes.

2. View the Result and Manual Adjust

2.1 Result

Now, you are able to view the assignment given by our system. There are two views, grouped by papers or reviewers.

2.2 Online Adjustment

After automatic matching, user can adjust the result by "remove" and "move to".

  • Remove :  point out a mistake match, the system will find another related reviewer to take this job.
  • Move to : you can also specify which user should take this job.

2.3 Detail Information

More detail information are also available, you can review the profile of a paper/reviewer.

For a reviewer, you may find out:  his/her information on ArnetMiner, the conflict papers. etc.

3. Change Settings, Reassign!

You can also change the settings, change the content of paper / reviewer. And make "Reassignment".
Find it out in the "Config" page.
